The RatSoap™ Project began in 2006 as a blog narrating an overseas journey. It included the cartoon adaptation of Anna Karenina as a bonus to readers. The blogger and illustrator was ten years old at the time. Family members lent an editorial hand.

The Soap half of RatSoap refers to the emphasis on human emotions over the philosophical (as in soap operas).

Additional titles planned for the series include Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick, Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist, and Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.
